Vitiligo Experimental: Psychological strategies A
A great benefit of the Experimental collection is that it allows us to explore ideas that are not normally associated with formal and “serious” investigation. These ideas often lead us to discover things that in the beginning seem unrelated to our vitiligo but in the end allow us to feel profoundly different about our situation. The psychological strategies have been a key example of this. Here we explore the first 4 of them.
1. Directly speak to your organs: communicate clearly and consciously to the individual intelligence that is inside your stomach , heart, liver and SKIN. speak with a loving firmness and command them to perform their functions correctly. This practise can be done repeatedly and at any time of the day.
2. Praise and compliment your body: Actively praise and encourage your body throughout the day. take time to communicate your appreciation for what it has done and continues to do for you. Before doing a task remember to praise the body and brief it on what needs to be done. This practise is very effective at gradually removing critical self talk and negative ideas about the body naturally.
3. Practice conscious inner relaxation: Take 30 minutes out of your day to just relax and consciously let go of all mental attachments and stresses. Use this time to totally relax and do not allow any stressing factors to enter. This practise becomes a mental “safe space” where you can go back to whenever you want to get the feeling of calm. it has been found that 30 minutes before and after sleep are the most effective for this practise.
4. Repeat positive affirmations: Write down a list of five strongly worded, intentionally written sentences about what you want from your life, write these affirmations down repeatedly at different moments during the day. And repeat them mentally during the day too. This practise creates a repetitive loop inside the mind similar to how music works and is a key inspiration for our subconscious healing programs.
These practices are great fun to explore and often help to create the conditions for an individual to want to investigate their vitiligo in a more serious and organised manner. We recommend not doing all of them together!
