Do you want the cure or do you want the cause?

The biggest price you will ever pay for something in life is to have someone give it to you for free. That is when you will not value it, look after it or know its true worth. This is just one of the reasons why we encourage our investigators to stop looking for cures and start focusing on the cause. Below are more reasons.

1. Hoping for a magic cure is a disempowering state of mind. It takes all your power and agency away and says there is an external magic solution that will solve all your problems.

2. Hoping for an external cure is not under your control. You have absolutely no say over what pharmaceutical company decides to research vitiligo and to what extent they are willing to spend money and resources on it.

3. Cure without cause is a repetitive cycle. It is true that one day there might be a cream that works well for most people. but It is also true that if you do not understand why you got your white marks in the first place then your vitiligo will just come back again.

4. Finding the cause is the path to self discovery. It is the central way in which you can change the story you tell yourself about vitiligo and gain some power over it. The more you choose to investigate yourself the more confident you become in knowing that you have some influence over the situation.

5. The CAUSE is the CAUSE for most repigmentation stories. The majority of people who have seen great recoveries with vitiligo have always mentioned a big part of the process being reverse engineering their habits and discovering what things were creating the conditions for vitiligo to manifest. This aspect when combined with other treatments seems to be the clearest path to success.

6. Finding the cause is what will help other people with vitiligo. Your efforts and observations are most probably not only applicable to you but for many other people with the same problem. These aspects of vitiligo investigation are priceless compared to passively searching for the cures.

We are not against cures. We welcome them if they help us and allow us to learn more about vitiligo. but we don't want our focus as investigators to be centred on the wrong thing.

Find the cause. BE the cure.
